Guidance of Axonal Pathfinding via Nano-Switches
Neurons constantly make navigation decisions: whether an axon should grow, retract or changedirection. In the developing nervous system these decisions are guided by complex chemical andphysical cues. Following injury, however, these signals disappear and axons regenerate randomly, preventing functional reconstruction of neural circuits. The GAP project aims to address thischallenge by developing magnetic nano-switches capable of controlling neuronalmechanotransduction and influencing axon navigation decisions.
